What if Superman’s otherworldly space-pod crash landed in Soviet Russia and he was brought up to believe in the ideals of Communist Russia? This story explores this idea in an alternate Superman story, which puts a twist on other DC characters. Batman becomes a Russian freedom fighter, after his pro-capitalist parents are gunned down when he’s a boy, and Lex Luthor is America’s best hope in the fight against a burgeoning Superman-fuelled Russia. In this way, the comic also shows us a world in which Russia dominated the Cold War. America’s political world changes dramatically in fascinating ways in a story that is as much an alternate history comic as it is an alternate superhero story.
